'Global Acceptance' is the theme for this year’s World Accreditation Day, which is being celebrated with events and awareness campaigns in 60 countries.
World Accreditation Day is a joint initiative by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to promote the important role the sector plays in the harmonisation of safety standards, quality assurance and trade.
A spokesperson for ILAC said confidence in measurement, testing, inspection and certification procedures across jurisdictions is essential in today’s complex international markets.
"Internationally-agreed standards and accreditation play an important role in the support of competitive markets and cross-border trade," said the spokesperson.
"This is increasingly important as supply chains are ever-extending to new overseas markets as businesses seek to lower costs or satisfy contract terms, whilst maintaining a level of confidence that products are technically compatible, to specification and safe."
NATA is celebrating World Accreditation Day with a staff lunch in each of the state offices.
